2019 PRS Private Stock Custom 22-08 Buckeye Burl
This PRS Private Stock #7884 was designed as a first-ever Custom 22-08 as part of our Ish Guitars Team Build. All the woods were hand selected at the PRS factory by our founder Jesse, with the design by our tech Amar and sales guy Scott.
The top is made out of the now-infamous tone wood Buckeye Burl. Our team decided to adjust the cutting pattern to keep the "face" below the bridge visible in the top. To add a badass touch, we left the top completely open pour (no grain fill) so the natural holes of the buckeye are exposed, then had the Private Stock team spray a gentle black burst along the edges.
The neck is bound with buckeye burl, and also inlaid with 2 part buckeye and "tiger pearl" inlay, giving the inlays a super unique 3D look that doesn't translate well in photos.
Flipping to the backside, we tried something new. A black limba "tone block" in the center, with swap ash wings on the outside. We grain filled the swamp ash with a subtle olive drab color to match the greens in the buckeye, and the Private Stock director Paul Miles had the idea to split the back plate to carry a perfect line between the two woods. Purely sublime!
SETUP & INSPECTED BY OUR LUTHIER
Weight: 6lbs 11oz
Tech Notes: Guitar, Hardware, and Electronics were cleaned/tested and are functioning 100%. Setup with D'Addario 10-46 gauge strings. Minimal neck relief, and very comfortable medium/low action. Fretboard was cleaned and frets were polished. Plays evenly throughout the entire neck with consistent intonation.
Cosmetic Notes: Some light scratching is present on the left side of the body, as well as some extremely light pick wear, and a few small dings on the back near the backplate (all pictured). Overall very good condition. Original pickups changed out to PRS Metal pickups.
