1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard "Burst" Original Sunburst

A stunning example of an original 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard "Burst". These guitars are literally legendary. The few people who get the opportunity to own one of these spectacular instruments tend to be A-list rock stars, heads of state, and business tycoons.

Now is your opportunity to join the ranks - this specific Burst is a "late" 60 which includes a few specific features, for example:

1. "Tomato" burst color with a strong red edge that used a different pigment, much less susceptible to fading than a early '60 or '59 Burst.

2. Famous, slim "60's" neck profile, which is significantly slimmer than a '59 neck. If you own a '59 and are getting tired of wrapping your hands around that baseball bat of a neck, this guitar is for you!

3. Silver topped knobs

This 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard "Burst" has no repairs, all original parts, and no modifications besides a replacement jack plate (the old original plastic was crumbling and simply unusable). Watch our video of our "Super Tech" process, authenticating every part of this guitar, below.

It appears that the pickup covers were removed by someone previously, assumingly to check the bobbin color. We did not remove them again - you don't need to remove the covers to see the bobbin color, which on this guitar is zebra on both pickups!

We have a short known ownership history of this instrument (if you have any history info, please reach out). It first appeared for sale at legendary Burst broker Rumble Seat Music when they were located in Ithaca, NY in 2006. It has lived in a private collection in Rochester, NY until it was sold to us here in Syracuse. The previous owner loved this guitar deeply, but he is getting older and needed to start selling down instruments. This guitar is documented in Burst Believers #3 with photos from Rumble Seat's original listing - the book will be included in the sale.

Given its short known history and excellent original condition, we believe this might have been an "under the bed" guitar that got enough play to have the wonderful worn in ascetic of a vintage guitar, but clearly was treated very well and not abused. It plays wonderfully and has been fully gone through by our tech, ready to be played.

Includes original, correct case in very good overall condition which we had verified in person by a vintage case expert. Although we have no proof that this is the case the guitar originally shipped with, given the similar condition of the guitar itself and the case, we believe this is a matched pair from "birth"".

OPEN TO TRADES! Guitars and guitar collections are easiest, but even open to specific watches, cars, etc.

LAYAWAY AVAILABLE! We will hold this guitar for up to 60 days with a $100,000 non-refundable deposit.

Asking $275,000 paid via bank wire. Shipping is available via white-glove courier for some areas, please inquire. We charge NY state sales tax for orders shipped or picked up inside NY state.
